Control radiators with LoRaWAN®
Initial situation: energy losses due to inefficient heating
It is not only since the Short-term Energy Supply Security Measures Ordinance came into force (EnSiKuMAV) that it has been important to take measures to save energy in public non-residential buildings. It is often unclear which radiators are currently switched on and what the room temperature is. If a heating system remains on unnoticed for a long time or if a radiator is not switched off during ventilation, this consumes a lot of superfluous energy and causes avoidable costs.
Solution: a smart thermostat and app to regulate the room temperature
With the VICKI LoRaWAN® radiator thermostat, you can monitor and regulate the room temperature – even remotely. The smart thermostat also automatically detects when a window has been opened and then temporarily regulates the radiator.
Using BuildingLink, facilities managers and building administrators can target specific areas of the building and adjust the temperatures according to actual use. A map view gives the user an overview of all areas fitted with the technology as well as all devices being used in that area. KPIs such as target/actual comparison and dew point calculations enable targeted energy savings and at the same time protect the building fabric, as the risk of mould, for example, is detected at an early stage.

Benefits of smart control of radiator thermostats
- Savings in CO2 emissions
- Savings in energy costs
Increase in process efficiency - Building fabric is protected
- Full transparency of the heating’s behaviour
- Full control over all properties
- Improvement in energy efficiency
- Health: room temperatures can be optimised
The combination of a smart thermostat and BuildingLink is ideally suited to efficiently control heating in public buildings, schools or office buildings via LoRaWAN® networks. This avoids unnecessary energy consumption for heating and at the same time makes a positive contribution to sustainability.
