Monitoring of e-charging stations

In order to integrate charging infrastructures into modern smart city concepts, ZENNER has developed a LoRaWAN®-supported smart parking solution that displays the actual occupancy status of the parking area in front of a charging station.

It is true that operators of charging stations can usually determine whether an electrically powered vehicle is currently being charged. However, it remains unclear whether a supposedly free e-parking space is not actually blocked by a vehicle with a combustion engine.

Information about the operating status of the charging station and the occupancy status of the parking area is recorded with sensors and transmitted via the LoRaWAN® network. On an IoT platform, the data are correlated.

For example, an app can be used to provide reliable information about free and operational charging parking spaces in real time. By connecting the IoT platform to existing parking guidance systems, the current data can be made available to citizens via app or web browser.
