Hannover Messe 2024: ZENNER presents solutions for a high-performance and sustainable industry
Published: 25. Mar 2024The world’s most important industrial trade fair – Hannover Messe (HM) – starts on 22 April. In keeping with HM’s motto, ‘Energizing a sustainable industry’, ZENNER will present smart utility and smart industry solutions as well as supplier use cases from smart submetering to smart cities at the LoRa Alliance joint stand. The company will focus on presenting its own LoRaWAN® network, which is one of the largest in Europe.
Saarbrücken, March 2024. ZENNER is an active member and sponsor of the LoRa Alliance, a global association and alliance of companies with a mission to develop and promote the open LoRaWAN® standard. LoRaWAN® is a communication protocol that is already in wide use today and was developed specifically for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The technology stands out for its high transmission range and building penetration. At the same time LoRaWAN® uses little energy during transmission.
Together with other members of the LoRa Alliance, ZENNER will present industrial IoT use cases and their possible applications in one of the largest LoRaWAN® networks in Europe.
ZENNER has one of the largest LoRaWAN® networks in Europe
ZENNER’s LoRaWAN® network service is available in 15 countries worldwide and currently includes just over 100,000 LoRaWAN® gateways and over seven million sensors: “These conditions mean we can provide our customers with a large portfolio of meters, sensors and gateways. Our customers also benefit from our team’s many years of expertise in supporting the implementation of solutions and practical use cases for smart cities, smart buildings, smart utilities, smart industry and smart submetering,” explains Boris Stöckermann, Head of Business Development and Digital Strategies in the Minol-ZENNER Group.
“In collaboration with our partners throughout the Minol-ZENNER Group, we are able to offer our customers comprehensive digital solutions for the cross-sector digitalisation of the energy transition. This allows us to further expand the use of LoRaWAN® together and develop new solutions,” adds Stöckermann. ZENNER offers sustainable and practical IoT solutions for industries and suppliers that can be put into effect with minimal effort. In an already existing LoRaWAN® network with the corresponding gateways, existing solutions can be scaled quickly and economically, or new IoT solutions can be easily added.
Example: Monitoring industrial equipment with LoRaWAN®
Reliable monitoring of machinery and equipment is a must for municipal utilities and energy suppliers, just as it is for any manufacturing plant –but it is particularly relevant for existing systems that are not networked, as energy consumption is usually not transparent here. In addition, machine failures cannot be predicted, which often makes maintenance inflexible. With the help of IoT sensors and LoRaWAN®, all existing plants can be retrofitted and adapted for comprehensive energy consumption monitoring. Using plug-and-play sensors, this conversion is also simple and non-invasive. All relevant data, such as temperature or the number of operating hours, are recorded centrally and transmitted via LoRaWAN® to the element IoT platform for further processing. This information base also enables predictive machine maintenance.
In addition to this smart industry solution, the ZENNER team will present other up-to-date IoT solutions for industry, energy, the smart city and utilities at the trade fair. “Our common goal is to present LoRaWAN® as a sustainable technology for all industries and to demonstrate the strengths of the technology through practical examples,” explains Marcus Kirchdörfer, Managing Director of ZENNER Connect.
