Leak detection

Smart leak detection with LoRaWAN is another example of how data-based added value and benefits can be realized with the help of LoRaWAN technology. Appropriate sensors can be used to monitor any problem cases that occur in and around the building. The data is transmitted via the LoRaWAN network and enables quick action.

  • Leaks or burst pipes in water pipes often remain undetected for a long time.
  • Claims are often very costly. Damage e.g. on a sprung floor (e.g. in gyms) can be an enormous cost factor and also leads to higher insurance premiums.
  • Defective or leaking toilet flushes can also cause increased water consumption or water damage in the building.

Control radiator thermostats with LoRaWAN

With smart leak detection, a LoRaWAN-enabled water meter is networked with a smart valve.

If the back-end system detects that a preset maximum flow value is being breached, the platform sends a signal to the smart valve, which then automatically closes and stops the water flow.

In the event of a defect or burst pipe, costly water damage and loss of use can be avoided through repairs. The Alarm and Fault Management system reports the process by e-mail and SMS to the persons stored in the system.
