IoT in Practice: Our Europa-Park Reference Video

How do you manage the infrastructure of a large amusement park? In our latest reference video, we show how Europa-Park uses LoRaWAN and AI to monitor infrastructure, support operations and make data-driven decisions.

A park like a small city: Europa-Park in Rust, Germany, is one of Europe’s largest amusement parks. With more than 100 attractions, numerous technical facilities and millions of visitors every year, operating the park involves many of the same challenges as managing a small city.

Stefan Gehring, responsible for electrical and telecommunications engineering at Europa-Park, explains it in the video: “Europa-Park and its challenges are like a small city – and our technical department is basically the municipal utility keeping everything running.”

In collaboration with ZENNER, Europa-Park has set up a LoRaWAN network that serves as the foundation for various IoT applications:

• Water level monitoring of lakes and bodies of water at various water attractions
• AI-powered people counting to determine the number of guests riding an attraction
• Predictive maintenance to monitor the lift motor of one roller coaster

The video shows how the various use cases are being implemented in practice in collaboration with ZENNER and put to use at Europa-Park.
